"Black Table, Black Tent" is Black Brew Culture's panel conversation about craft beer, community, commerce and consequences. It was created by BBC founder Mike Potter to present real solutions to the challenges of equity and ownership via informative symposiums and instructive workshops designed to engage, educate and empower.

This "Black Table, Black Tent," sponsored by Dogwood State Bank and moderated by Potter, will highlight the narratives and experiences related to financing and maintaining a brick and mortar craft beer business. The Sunday afternoon meet-up anchors a free, five-hour, open-to-the-public vendor pop-up at Durham Bottling Company. The venue will also host BBC's Brewers Brunch earlier that morning starting at 11am.

PANELISTS: 

Michael Johnson of Dogwood State Bank, who, this year alone, has aided four brewers with their lending needs; Brianna Brake, the visionary behind Spaceway Brewing, whose delicious beers are heralded coast to coast; Nish LeBlanc of Lennox and Grae, Inc., whose commercial-development passion helped Brake build a Durham taproom; 

Vernardo “Tito” Simmons-Valenzuela of Dirtbag Ales Brewery and Taproom in Hope Mills, a true family business; Teo Hunter, co-founder of Crowns & Hops Brewing Co., proud representer of independent craft beer culture; 

Sean Wilson, chief executive optimist at Fullsteam Brewing, who's on a mission to pioneer a "Southern beer economy," and Charles Robinson, founder and CEO of Robinson Capital Group, a Duke U grad who helps create start-up ecosystems. 

Nish Evans, Nish launched Lennox and Grae Inc., a commercial real estate investment firm, in 2018, and Lennox and Grae Construction Inc. followed in 2020. Nish has acquired three properties in Durham, including 216 Rigsbee Ave. and 310 E. Main St., a historical landmark where she plans to open office space this year for herself and her two employees.
