Blacktoberfest 2023 - The Masters in Durham will highlight Brew Masters and Pit Masters alike in one incredible event on October 14th at Garland Court, East Durham. The festival will again be held over three days, and will feature a range of activities and experiences that highlight the rich and diverse culture of Black-owned businesses. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample some of the best craft beers and BBQ in the country, while enjoying live music, engaging in interactive activities, and learning from industry experts. Our site will be updating daily with participating breweries and competitors as well as event schedules and locations.

BCBB COMPETITION INFORMATION

There will be 4 competition categories for this year’s BBQ competition: Chicken, Pulled Pork, Ribs and Brisket.

The following cash prizes will be awarded in each category:
1st Place - $500 + Trophy
2nd Place - $250
3rd Place - $100
People’s Choice Award - Pulled Pork - $500
Grand Champion - $1,000

Any heat source can be used to cook: gas, electric, wood or coals.
Teams must provide thier own source of power if needed
Turn in boxes will be provided. Any garnish will be provided by teams.
The competition is open to the public from 12pm to 3pm. Teams are encouraged to interact with attendees for pictures and questions and sell merchandise and products.
Due to local regulations, teams are not permitted to sell food unless properly licensed, and are an approved vendor by the festival.
Additional contest rules will be posted approximatly 90 days before the event date.
